Big Girl Crawling

Being home with these kids everyday is a challenge but also full of great moments. Finn is less and less a toddler and more of a little boy each day. He loves to run and jump and read stories with me. This week he likes to run around the house with a blanket over his head (not the safest game) and hide in the curtains.

Lila is very busy trying to keep up with her brother. She crawls and follows him where ever he goes. She makes these little noises to let him know that she wants to play and they make each other laugh (when they aren't fighting over something).

Sometimes I put her in her walker to confine her. She can get into so much more trouble when she's not in it.

Finn can build the most epic train tracks. Trains are his favorite toys right now.

Lila's favorite game is to pull out her toys from her baskets and throw them on the floor.

Lila can pull herself up to her feet just starting this last week.

She is very helpful.

Just last week she really started crawling on her hands and knees. I thought that I would let you see.

Turkey Time!

This year we had Thanksgiving with the Richins. Here is Finn with his cousins Stratton and Carson making a paper plate turkey. He had such a fun day running around with those two. Maybe a little too much fun because he fell three times giving himself some sweet goose eggs. After the third fall I had to put my foot down about running in the house.

Levi put the tree up this year with help from the kids. They are so different from each other, as soon as Levi set up the tree Lila crawled over to examine everything he was doing and Finn didn't want to be bothered with it and we had to beg him to come and look like he was enjoying it.

Finn had is third birthday this month and it was so fun! Levi took the day off and we all went as a family to the Tracy Aviary.

After the Aviary we went to McDonalds for lunch and let him open another present before his nap. The present was Lighting McQueen that Finn picked. Then that evening he opened his last present which was a car ramp. Overall I think he had a great day!

The next Sunday we celebrated his birthday with Levi's parents. They got him this cool spinning toy.

So it has been a while since I've had a chance to blog. I had my continuing education to complete for my pharmacy tech. license and I am happy to say that it is all done! But that doesn't mean that there hasn't been plenty going on with two little kids growing up so fast. In this first picture Levi was helping Finn get the hang of riding his trike and he did really well and if you can't tell he loved it!

Finn loves to swim! He can doggy paddle around the pool pretty well with his arm rings on.

We had an end of summer BBQ with the family, complete with smoked ribs and chicken. It was delicious and we had a lot of fun!

Tabitha's Wedding

So like the title states this last month was Tabitha's wedding. She and Nick got married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 18th and we are so proud of them. I apologize that we didn't get a very good picture of them for the post but it was a beautiful wedding and we are happy for them.

This was my favorite part of the reception. Tabitha and Nick lit and released a wish lantern. It was really beautiful and it is a tradition that Tabitha learned on her mission in Thailand.

We blessed Lila on May 1. The night before Cameron and Heidi and their girls came from Vernal to stay the night. Jenna, Ryan and Ava also came from Logan and we all went out to dinner. It was a lot of fun and we made some good memories.

Before dinner Kessie, Ellie, Finn and Ava had a blast playing and running all over the front yard. Finn is usually timid to play with other kids but he loved having Kessie run with him.

For anyone who doesn't know this is a picture of my Grandma Lila for whom our little Lila is named for. Both Levi and I love Grandma Lila. She is an amazing woman who I have looked up to all my life. She holds our big family together with her love and concern for each of us. Thank you for letting us use your name Grandma. We love you!

Easter

Easter was a blast this year. Finn had a great time helping color eggs and then again finding them on Easter morning.

It didn't take him long to figure out how the decorating went and he made sure that there was an egg in every dye.

He was disappointed when we were done coloring so we gave him stickers to put on the eggs.

He found every egg and put them all back in their box. For the next few weeks he kept asking me to hide the eggs again. It was hard to explain why we can't keep hiding and finding the white eggs that I keep in the fridge.

Life With Lila

It's needless to say but life is definitely busier with two kids but it has also been great. This post just has a bunch of photos of life being life. Finn and Lila love snuggling with their Dad. Finn is getting better about sharing Dad time with his sister.

Finn goes most every Saturday with his Aunt Tabitha and Uncle Nick to do crafts and he loves it.

New Addition

The happy day finally came! Lila was born on March first at 8:05 pm. Which was eleven days early. So I wasn't exactly expecting it but luckily I was prepared. She was 6 lbs and 7 oz and 19 inches long. She's a good eater and a pretty good sleeper and it has been fun having her in our family. Finn has been handling the changes well and even gives his little sister kisses sometimes.

Don't you just love this big smile? Finn has been so cute about smiling for the camera. January is a hard month for a little boy who loves to play outside. So Levi and I have been thinking up activities to do each night. We have family movie night, we go to the library or visit family, play games and each Saturday we take Finn on an outing. He has had fewer tantrums and we have all really enjoyed the activities.

So the older Finn gets the more I see of his Dad in him. Finn loves to play with anything electronic and one day I was washing dishes and suddenly realized that Finn was very quiet. I found him like this. The DVD player was jammed because he had put two discs in. He was not happy that we had to wait for Levi to come home before he could watch a movie.

Levi's parents bought us a zoo pass for Christmas this year and it has been so fun! Our Saturday outings are often at the zoo and I think that it will be even more fun come summer.

One of Levi's favorite animal's to visit is the giraffe. It is so cool that you can get so close to them. Finn likes watching them too.

This enclosure is always fun to visit and it changes from time to time. This year it has nature's nightmares in it. There were tarantulas, scorpions, leeches, rats and at the top of this picture you can see the vultures.

Two weekends ago Jenna, Ryan and Ava stopped in for a visit and it was so fun! Finn and Ava played so good together and Levi and I had fun playing games and watching movies with Jenna and Ryan Friday night. Saturday we got to bring Jenna and Ava with us to the zoo. It was so cute watching Ava point at the monkeys.

Finn and Ava played together all day Friday and Ryan helped entertain them with all his creative ways of setting up the train track. Finn thought it was great! Christmas Time

Finn is growing up so fast. A few weeks ago we moved him to a toddler bed and he didn't mind the transition at all.

Clark and Jen and Addy came home to visit for Christmas. We had fun playing games, having BBQ's and one night we all bundled up and saw the lights at Temple Square.

Levi and I teach primary and I just had to take a picture on the last day. We are missing two of the kids but here are most of them. It was a very challenging year but I can honestly say that I grew to love them and I'm going to miss them.

So I officially have a two year old on my hands. He has been getting into more mischief lately than I know what to do with. I found him munching on his crayon right after I discovered his art work. Crayon is surprisingly difficult to get off of the walls.

After a few minutes of playing in his tidy room I find this.

Holiday Fun

This year was Finn's third Halloween. He still isn't very interested in the whole thing but we had a lot of fun anyway. Here is Levi's pumpkin. I love the toothy mouth.

This is Finn Halloween night. He was a little under the weather so he wasn't in the mood to be dressed up. So we settled for batman p.j.s and last years bat ears that he wore only long enough to take pictures. We tried to take him trick or treating at a few of our friends homes but he screamed and refused to be removed from the car. So instead we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Richins who spoiled him with a balloon and treats.

Every two years our stake puts on a musical. This time it was The Sound of Music and like two years ago Levi was the orchestra director. He worked very hard but enjoyed the chance to work with music. I got to attend one night and I brought Finn to the first half hour of the closing night. Finn loved watching the actors sing and clapped very enthusiastically every chance he got. Everyone did a great job and I really enjoyed seeing it!

Finn doesn't like the cold and he loves being wrapped up in a soft blanket.

This is a picture of Finn with his soon to be new uncle Nick. He and Tabitha are engaged and will be getting married come May. We took a picture because they are sporting the same winter gear. Nick is great and we are excited to have him in the family.

Finn loves balloons and every time we go to Harmon's he has to have one. Luckily they are complimentary.

There is no question that Finn loves his Dad. Finn will choose to be with him every chance he gets. He especially loves snuggling with Levi on our bed.

This year for Thanksgiving we went to Vernal to celebrate with my side of the family. I have lots of family and we all love being together. Finn isn't one for crowds so he spent most of the weekend clinging to Levi. We drove home Saturday night and the following day Finn was so tired he fell asleep right after church.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving we had a huge snowstorm. It's nice to be in a warm cozy house on days like this.

It's A Girl!

Last Monday we found out that we are having a baby girl and in my excitement to post pics I forgot that they post in reverse order so the ultra sound pictures are at the end. But here are some cute ones of Finn. This first picture is at Grandma and Grandpa Richin's house for a movie night and Finn found out that there were M&M's in the chex mix.

Finn loves, loves playing outside! We spend a good chunk of our day out in our back yard and one of his favorite toys is this dump truck that used to be Levi's. He will push it around the entire backyard and through the house and back out again.

We are going to name her Lila Elizabeth after my grandmother. Levi and I are both excited and we will keep everyone updated on her progress!

Finn Turns Two

This new baby is getting bigger and bigger. We will find out if it's a boy or a girl in about another week and a half. I can't wait!

So like the title says Finn turned two this month on the 16th. We took Finn to the Planetarium where he had a great time running everywhere.

After the Planetarium we took Finn to lunch and got him a kids meal. He thought it was great! He especially loved the chocolate milk and toy car he got with it.

That evening the Richins came over for cake and presents. The most exciting present was the new sand box that his Grandpa Arnie made.

He has to make sure he gets every bite.

How fast things change!

This summer is just been flying by and I feel like I can hardly catch my breath. I have lots of fun things to report. First off Tabitha came home from her mission in Thailand on July 23 at midnight. We spent the evening with all of Levi's family. We had a BBQ and decorated the yard. Then when the time came we got Finn out of bed and everyone went to the airport to meet her. We all stayed up late hearing Tabitha's stories and enjoying the gifts she brought. Welcome home Tabitha!!!

Levi's sister Hayley and her family came from their home in New Mexico to see Tabitha come home. They got to stay for two weeks and it was a lot of fun! This is her youngest Stratton playing with some of the balloons that were used for the decorations.

One of the things we did as a family was roast marshmallows. We also went swimming, went to the movies and played games. We had some good times. One more thing about this picture. In the background you can see an alien which belongs to Levi's brother AJ. If you don't know AJ I just want to say that he is one of the funniest people I know and one of the things he likes to do is scare people with this alien of his. So if you visit the Richins just be careful if you want to use the bathroom or if your staying the night check your bed.

At the first of this month we did some cement work around the base of the house because we tend to get water in the basement every time it rains. My father and my brother and his family came to help as well and Levi's parents and all of his siblings. The cement goes around the front and down one side of the house and it looks great! Just yesterday we had a crazy storm. The kind that leaves our yard full of broken branches and I am happy to say that I didn't find a single puddle in the basement! Yea!! Thank you everyone for all your hard work!!! We couldn't have done it without you.

This is a picture of the train track put together with every piece included. This is a feat that I have tried many times and I thought was impossible but Levi found a way. I was so excited about it that I made him take a picture.

So you never know what things will grab your toddlers attention but this day Finn played all day with a kazoo saxophone and the tub stopper.

So for some really big news! At the beginning of July we discovered that I was pregnant! The baby is due on March 12. It has been a rough pregnancy so far but I am really excited all the same. We will keep everyone posted on the progress and we will know in about eight weeks weather we are having a boy or a girl.

One last note I wanted to add. Last week we said a sad goodbye to our friends Jen and Clark. They moved to San Diego so Clark can attend law school. We have spent every weekend that we could with them for over three years and it will be impossible to replace them in our lives. We miss them terribly but we know that this is an awesome opportunity for them. Good luck guys! We miss you!

June

June was a busy month. Levi celebrated his 29th birthday and I had my 27th. We decided to get a joint birthday present and get a new TV for our front room. Since our old one only turned on some of the time. We also went to Vernal for a family reunion. While we were there we had family pictures. Finn wasn't very cooperative for the group picture.

The family reunion was a blast. We had picnics and played at parks, worked on crafts and there was even a big blow up slide that everyone enjoyed.

Finn wore us out with all the trips up and down the slides.

This is Finn at the carnival that was part of the reunion. All the kids played games and at the end they all got prizes. Finn got quite a few things but his favorite was a big plastic shovel that he carries everywhere.

All summer Finn has been loving playing outside. Most days there is a few hours where I just leave the back door open so Finn can come in and out. Though he doesn't know the difference between outside toys and inside toys. Every evening I gather up his toys from the yard before I put him to bed.

My Dad came up for a visit and Finn always warms right up to him. They are buddies.

On Memorial Day Jenna, Ryan and Ava stopped for a visit and we all went to the park, which Finn loved!!! These are some cute pictures that Jenna took. Finn loves to slide and always has a big grin when he reaches the end.

Graduation

Graduation day finally came! On May 7, Levi graduated with his bachelors degree in Information Systems. We are so proud of him!

Levi's sister Tabitha is on a mission in Thailand. She sent us some pictures that I wanted to share. Here she is with two other sister missionaries. Tabitha is on the right and her companion is in the middle.

I love the "Beware Monkey Zone" sign in the back and from what Tabitha says it is true. She wrote to us that she was bitten by a big monkey but that she was alright because it didn't break the skin so she doesn't need any rabies shots. We miss her but we know she is working hard. Keep up the good work!

We Love You Grandpa!

Early in March Levi and I traveled to Vernal to say good-bye to my Grandpa Keith. He passed away from the effects of cancer on March 7. He passed quicker than we anticipated but he suffered very little and for that we are grateful. There aren't words to say what he means to me and my whole family but that he was very loved and still is. We love you Grandpa and we miss you. I am grateful that we are an eternal family and we all be together again someday.

It's Easter time again. Finn still wasn't sure what has going on but he had fun helping to color eggs. He sucked on a couple eggs and stuck his fingers in some of the dye but his favorite part was chewing on Grandma Elaine's wire whisk.

Finn got a book and fruit bars in his basket. I got a new Sunday shirt and Levi got some magic cards and chocolate cream eggs. Finn mostly wanted Levi's chocolate cream eggs.

Kait and my Dad were up to visit because I called and begged my Dad to come fix my washer. Which he did wonderfully, plus many other odds and ends chores. This is Kait with her basket. She got some super yummy chocolate from The Little Sweet Pea which is a candy shop in Vernal that Levi and I love to go to when we visit. Dad got a basket of goodies too but he wouldn't let me take a picture. Thanks for all you help Dad!!!

Finn really warmed up to Kait and my Dad. He loved having Kait chase him around the room and he gave both of them kisses, Dad especially. Do you love Finn's great toy? (an empty water jug)

Finn loves to snuggle in Lilly's dog bed by the heater. Sometimes I come into the front room to find Lilly looking sadly at her occupied warm spot.

He didn't know what all the white stuff was but it was fun to walk in.

Putting Finn in his high chair for meals was getting to be an ordeal. He threw huge tantrums about having to sit in it. A nice woman from my ward gave us this booster seat so now Finn can sit at the table with us and it has made a huge difference.

Things are pretty much same old, same old this month. Levi is working hard to finish his last semester before he graduates. I'm busy trying to keep up with housework, babysitting and most of all a very busy toddler. Levi is a big help with Finn especially on the weekends when he is home more. This first picture is Levi holding Finn who just got out of the tub.

Here is Finn trying on Clark's hat. He was loving all the attention.

Finn insists on sitting with Levi when he eats his breakfast in the morning. If Levi doesn't give him spoonfuls of his breakfast then he will grab a handful himself.

Finn is a big helper. He inspects every dinner I make from start to finish.

Finn can climb onto most of the furniture. Lilly has few places to hide.

Sometimes I call Finn my little closet monster because I'll be searching the house for him until I hear shuffling noises coming from my closet.

Our Christmas was a good one. Levi and Clark started it out with homemade Christmas sweatsuits. Clark even won fifty dollars in an ugly sweater contest.

Here are some odd's and end's pictures that I wanted to post. This first one is of Finn in his new church clothes. He is growing so fast. It is fun to dress him in big boy clothes.

This is Finn in his new winter coat and hat. He hates getting it put on but it sure keeps him warm.

Lilly was in desperate need of a hair-cut because she sits under Finn's high chair when he eats and gets food stuck in her fur when Finn throws it over. But the weather turned really cold just after that so we often find her resting in this corner with the heat blowing on her.

Sometimes I load the love sac with random things while I vacuum. I didn't notice Lilly laying there.

She was pretty content under there.

Kaitlinn is a character. She is always saying or doing things that just crack me up, like trying on my shoes.

We hope that everyone had a good Thanksgiving! It was our year to celebrate with Levi's family. This included a big dinner, bingo and trying to keep Finn from falling down the stairs since climbing the stairs at the Richins is his favorite thing to do when we visit. We have also had some big changes. I started a babysitting job for a family in my ward. These are the cute girls I watch Kaitlynn, Senia and Tia. My days are busy but fun. Finn likes to have them come too.

Finn is getting to be quite the climber. He loves to push this chair up to the window so he can get a good view.

I try hard to keep the bathroom door shut but sometimes a little boy gets in and these are the kind of things that happen. Does this count as added fiber in his diet?

As usual Finn loves to help Levi with whatever he is doing. This time they are playing video games.

Finn will sit in the love sac and watch TV. Levi says that he reminds him of Charlie Brown.

Lilly decided to join Finn. You can see that she is completely on top of him and it doesn't bother him one bit as long as he can see past her to the TV.

Senia refuses to wear a bib so sometimes she gets very messy.

Halloween Fun!

I wanted to start this post with this awesome picture of my family all together for Ava's blessing. We all went to Logan last Sunday for the blessing and dinner afterwards. It was so great to see everyone!

Levi, Jen, Clark and I had a lot of fun carving pumpkins together this year.

This is Finn's pumpkin. He didn't get to help with the carving but he did lift the lid and tried to stick it to the fridge like his magnets.

Finn was a bat this year. This is the same costume that Levi wore about this age.

My grandparents are staying here in Salt Lake for awhile so we went to visit on Halloween. My grandparents first met on Halloween 64 years ago. This is Finn sitting next to Grandma Lila.

I thought I would post some pictures to show what Finn likes to do all day. This first one is him with his favorite toy. Levi and I call it his dragon ball toy and he will play with it for literally hours.

This second picture is of Finn playing his favorite game. Which is what I call open and close. I open the door and growl and then he closes it. Great Fun!

I love this face he is pulling. He loves sucking on these plastic ice cubes we have but it gets a little too cold sometimes hence the face.

New Additions!

Like the title says we have had some new additions to our families. I put them in the wrong order but this first picture is Carson and his new brother Stratton. Stratton was born on Sept. 25 to Levi's sister Hayley and her hubby Ari. We are sad that they are far away in New Mexico but we are very happy for them and can't wait to hold Stratton at Christmas.

This little sweetheart is Ava Elizabeth. She was born on Sept. 19 to my sister Jenna and her hubby Ryan. She had some fluid in her lungs when she was born so she had to spend a few days in the NICU but she had a fast recovery and is now home with her mom and dad. Congrats guys!

Busy Boy's First Birthday!

It has been a busy and fun few weeks, especially for Finn. Finn went from crawling to standing to walking around the furniture. He also had his first birthday! It was a lot of fun. Levi took the day off work and we all went to the zoo. While at the zoo we bought him a tube full of little plastic animals. It turned out to be his favorite gift of the day! (Not the animals, the tube.) As always it is an adventure raising a little boy.

Finn was a little tired so he kept putting his face in the fresh laundry. He ended up pulling out all of his little rags that he likes to snuggle with and spread them throughout the house.

Climbing is Finn's thing. He was thrilled to find that Jenna and Ryan's house had lots of stairs.

For those of you who don't know, Levi loves BBQ and he has been trying out new recipes all summer. This is his latest, soda pop chicken. It turned out great!

Finn loves getting people to help him walk around the house. This time it was Kait.

It is pretty well known that Finn loves TV. Not exactly the best thing for a baby but is sure is nice when he is having a cranky day.

Fifth Year Anniversary

Today is our fifth year anniversary so I thought I would post some pictures of us throughout the years and of course I got a little carried away. This first picture is Levi and I on one of our first dates. I had invited Levi for a "drive-in movie". It was complete with cardboard cars and homemade movie tickets and the theater was the living room of the plum house where I lived with my six roommates. Levi is putting popcorn in my hair.

We have had a lot of fun these last two weeks visiting with friends. First Finn and I took a trip to Centerville and visited with my friends from High School, Ambrea and Michelle. We went to the park, had lunch and let the kids play. Then Levi's sister Hayley and her husband Ari and there son Carson made a trip from New Mexico to spend about a week with family. It was so good to see them. We had a family sleepover in the Richin's backyard and the next afternoon we all went to the lake to canoe. Then this last weekend we had a visit from my father and sisters Kaitlynn and Jenna and Jenna's husband Ryan. My dad worked hard putting in a bathroom downstairs and also lots of odd jobs for us around the house. Thank you so much Dad! In the meantime I had great fun going to a baby shower for Jenna and shopping for school clothes for Kaitlynn. It has been a jam packed few weeks and it has been so good to see everyone!

It finally happened. Finn learned to crawl! He has been stuck in reverse for about two months but yesterday, after much persuasion, Finn started to scoot forward. We are so proud of our little boy!

This was Finn's first 4th of July. We went to a parade, had a BBQ and watched fireworks. It was lots of fun.

Levi used to play in the band every 4th of July so he loves to hear them play. It is still led by the same man that Levi knows.

I realized that I never take pictures of Finn when he is crying (though he does his share). This is his sad cry.

Finn can now stand holding on to something. He is changing too fast!

Finn hasn't had it easy lately. I wrote last month that he had a cold. Well about a week after it cleared up he woke up one morning with a high fever. I had a feeling that I should take him into the doctor. The doctor said that he had the flu and a mild ear infection but no worries she gave him a prescription and sent us on our way. Three days later I was getting him ready for church and I had just fed him and given him his medicine when I noticed a rash starting. After a couple of frantic phone calls, a trip to Walgreens and another visit with the doctor we discovered a medication allergy. Now two days later the rash is starting to let up. For the most part Finn has actually been pretty happy (thank goodness) but we will all be happier when this is over.

June has been a very busy but very fun month. We celebrated Levi's birthday and then a week later mine. We went to Vernal for a baby blessing and a family reunion and Finn had his first cold. Which was no fun but he survived it. Now we are just trying to keep cool. We hope everyone else had a good month too.

Well it's been about 4 months since we last updated our blog (we hope there are people that will still read it). Our baby Finn is growing so fast. He keeps us really busy, but we sure love him. Our dog Lilly is starting to accept the fact that she has to share our loves, but she's learning. I am really busy with school and work these days, and Marissa is busy being a mother, but we are happy and enjoying life.

He's here! Finn was born on 9/16/08 at 11:16 am, weighing 7 pounds and 8 ounces. He is 21 in. long. Both baby and Rissa are doing great. I am good as well (after I got some sleep). We are so excited to have him here and can't wait to bring him home. As a side note Finn broke Marissa's water with a kick. It was around 5:00 am and she felt a huge kick and Bam, broken. I don't know if it was a round-house kick or not, but I was proud.

Well, I know it's been a couple of months since my last blog and I apologize, but things are very good. Marissa has about two and a half weeks left until our son is born, or sooner. She is about ready to pop! I finished the summer semester with my sanity, and I started the fall semester on Monday. Marissa and I are getting busy putting the baby's room together (as you can see from the pictures) and that has been a fun project. I'll keep everyone up to date with news about the baby! Birthday Week

Hello everyone. Well, it's been about two weeks since our last blog. Three mid-terms in one week isn't as easy as it sounds. Marissa is doing great. She's getting hot and she's tired, but she's been really healthy during her pregnancy. Birthday week was also a success! (My birthday is June 14th and Marissa's is June 22nd so we have a week long birthday celebration at our house. It's kind of like Christmas in June).

We have also been getting closer on picking out a name for our baby boy. The top three names we like are: Henry, Finn, and Jack. Hopefully we find one before he comes. Below are some pictures we have taken over the past couple of weeks.

Our First Blog

Hello everybody. This is our first 'blog' ever and I'm excited to see where this goes. As many of you know Marissa and I are pregnant (well, Marissa is pregnant, I'm just supporting by eating as much bacon as possible). We are having a boy and he is due September 14th.
